In the Effingham Cancer Care Practice—Professionally Staffed by Summit Cancer Care Physicians
Hematology is the study of blood, the blood-forming organs, and blood disorders such as anemia, sickle-cell disease, and clotting disorders such as hemophilia. Hematologists also care for patients with blood cancers such as leukemia, and cancers of blood-related body systems including the bone marrow and lymph nodes.
Specialty Care
Patients can see an extensively trained, hematology specialist from Summit Cancer Care, on site at Effingham Hospital. Hematology physician appointments and infusion therapies are administered inside the Cancer Care Center at Effingham Health System. Hematologists closely observe patients’ blood test results, monitor their response to treatment, and provide for the best possible care in all aspects of blood health.
